welcome to basecamp
Our two-fold approach blends elements of personal development with the naturally powerful vehicle of adventure. Young people attend in-school sessions two weeks before each trip and a thematically linked adventure trip afterwards. Our approach is rooted and formed around principles and theory of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), Positive Psychology, Person-Centered Therapy and Transformative Coaching.

School Sessions
Our in-school sessions give context to the overall programme and our adventure trips. These sessions are are zoomed-out intentional moments of learning and inspiration, based around 6 themes. Through games, fun activities, conversation and workshops we’ll explore themes such as resilience, teamwork and fear in depth. They’re also key to keeping the sense of Basecamp community going. They’ll always be fun sessions around some good food and conversation.

Adventure Trips
Our Adventure Trips are for seeing what we covered in the school sessions come to life and turning our big talk into action. We’ll jump into plunge pools, abseil down cliffs, scramble up waterfalls and start to really discover what it means to believe in yourself and push yourself out of your comfort zone. We’ll spend evenings round the campfire, make new friends and above all, have a blast and make memories to last a lifetime.
Basecamp Huddles
Every young person that joins us on the Basecamp Programme is part of a Basecamp Huddle, which is like a family of 7-8 young people that remains the same throughout the year. Huddles are led and facilitated by one of our trained Adventure Youth Coaches. On Adventure Trips, we’ll eat meals in our Huddles and use the time to reflect on the day and our learnings together, through informal coaching and check-in circles. This provides a sense of belonging, access to individualised support and the chance to form supportive, empathetic relationships with your peers.
‘My huddle leader made me feel welcome and and like I could actually trust people. I saw what other people were going through and started to look out for them at school. It's nice to chat about the day over dinner too, I like that.’ - April, Age 12
‘I always liked going around the table and shouting out everyone’s achievments. When someone says those things to you it makes you feel really good about yourself, like when I did an abseil I was really scared of.’ - Sam, Age 12
