empowering young people to thrive

JOIN US ON AN EXHILARATING JOURNEY OF SELF-DISCOVERY AND SELF-BELIEF

Welcome to Basecamp

We inspire, celebrate and challenge young people to discover their self-worth and inner power, readying them for the mountain of life. Life, like a mountain, will be full of both opportunities and challenges and at Basecamp young people learn how to navigate the path ahead with confidence, purpose and enthusiasm.

Coming together in a safe, supportive and inspirational space, young people build community, discover new possibilities and start to defy their own expectations of themselves. They build an emotional ‘kitbag’ of resources that will support them today, tomorrow and in years to come. Our ethos is bold and ambitious; through high challenge and high support over an intensive one-year period, our young people develop transformative awareness, self-belief and aspirations for a meaningful future.

Have you or has your child been put forward for Basecamp? Here’s what to expect.

Our approach: adventure-led personal development

At the heart of what we do is a core belief that every young person is capable of so much more than they think. We want a world where young people are set up to thrive no matter their barriers, so that in times of challenge and opportunity, they are empowered to live a fulfilling and meaningful life.

By blending a deeply relational personal development approach with the naturally powerful vehicle of outdoor adventure, we attempt to break these barriers to self-belief and deliver an exhilarating and impactful curriculum that takes young people on a journey that teaches them skills for life.

Who is Basecamp for?

Basecamp is for any young person who faces barriers to their opportunity to thrive. They may be struggling with their mental health, grappling with low self-esteem or not ordinarily have access to such opportunities. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, pressures of social media and demands on the NHS Mental Health Service means too many young people are feeling lost, lonely and lacking in hope. Basecamp hopes to be a ‘cog in the wheel’ of existing support from parents, carers, schools and other interventions.
